A thoughtful, complex film, The Good German is Steven Soderbergh's latest expansion of stylistic and thematic boundaries. Though I can't speak as to the merits of the Artist, since I haven't seen it, I can say that The Good German is a noble but failed experiment in the Soderbergh canon.
