In size a small man, but very big in spirit. As a master of marshall arts and Aikido, Tomita is as rare as a real Samurai.
Tomita Sensei—born in Japan during the forties—has today one of the world’s highest grades in Aikido—8th Dan, Shihan—black belt and authorised to teach in every aspect of Aikido.
Tomita was my teacher of Aikido in the mid-1970s. Later he assisted me to improve his already-minimalistic and tasteful dojo on Kommendörsgatan in Stockholm. The only picture left is of my hand-made jute curtain painted with one of the most important Japanese words: Wa, meaning Harmony.
